Penalized Translation Memory Matches in the Translation Interface

When accessing Translation Memory matches from inside the TI, you may see a match score marked with an asterisk:

This indicates a penalized match score. Penalized scores can lead to a match having a less than 100% score, even if no differences in the text are marked.

Penalized scores happen in two ways. An owner may have applied a penalty to the Translation Memory source the match comes from to indicate that the translation is old, outdated or of uncertain quality. Smartling also automatically applies a penalty to a match if formatting or tags are different.

You can see the 'raw score', before the penalty was applied, by hovering over the match percentage:

In word count reports of work completed the segment will be reported using the adjusted score, not the raw score.
