Can I update my Translation Memory by exporting, editing, and re-importing translations into Smartling?

The following article applies to Global Delivery Network, Application Resource File, Business Document, and CMS Connector project types.

Yes, if you are using an Application Resource File project that uses Android, iOS, Java Properties, gettext, XML, JSON, or YAML files.

You can check your project type at Settings > API > Projects.

If you use an Application Resource File project and download a translated file in one of the following formats: Android, iOS, Java Properties, gettext, XML, JSON, and YAML, you can edit the translations outside of Smartling and then import the file, and Smartling will overwrite current translations in the system, updating the Translation Memory.

If you use a project with another file format, you cannot update your Translation Memory using this process. When you export your Smartling Translation Memory in Translation Memory Exchange (TMX) format, edit the TMX file outside of Smartling, and then import the file, Smartling will not overwrite current translations in the system.
