How Do Nbsp/Br/New line tags differ?

This article applies to Global Delivery Network, Application Resource File, Business Document, and CMS Connector project types.

When working in the Smarting Translation Interface, you may have the option to insert one of the following tags in the translation:

A good rule of thumb is to use the same tags that appear in the source string to retain the original formatting.

The tags display in Smartling as follows:

Non-breaking space <nbsp>: Prevents a line break, and is non-collapsable; for example:

"Art Gallery"

New line: Can place text on a new line but have it rendered as a single line, or have text rendered on separate lines. For example,

Art
Gallery

would be rendered as "Art Gallery"

Art

Gallery

would be rendered as

"Art

Gallery"

Line break <br>: Forces a line break; for example:

"Art
Gallery"
